I was talking more about Burnham however I have actually seen people whine that she isn't white. "Why does she have to be black?" was the line I saw. Left that group pretty fucking fast.

I don't know. I met someone somewhat recently on Elite Dangerous and he was a big Star Trek fan. Then he started talking about some political stuff that was highly suspect. As in like "What, you like Star Trek because you think the Romulans were the good guys?" Only doubled down further with some truly despicable shit said about trans folks. Love how he had to clarify that gays "like me" are perfectly fine but said basically anyone LGBTQ+ should drown in tar.
Blew my mind that you could like Star Trek and be that hateful.
