I hope for a short strike in which the corporate overlords immediately cave to all the workers demands.

That's the thing. The more reasonable ones back off a little and make some changes before it comes to a strike. The ones that let it go to a strike are the unreasonable ones. That's why you basically mostly have no strike or long strikes.
