While all eyes are on Bioware's upcoming Dragon Age sequel, Dreadwolf, industry insiders have heard rumors that Mass Effect 4 (or 5) won't be open world.

You say that like Mega Man X3 isn't objectively better than Mega Man 4. What matters more is the value of the thing being made of its own merit, regardless of what came before. There are however sad cases where a game only exists because of what came before, for financial reasons (looking at you, Madden). Nothing of value there, except perhaps to shareholders.
