For me, it's the Pro CFW for PSP. It keeps my dear old PSP alive and kicking, even though the UMD has gone wonky. I love when a community comes together to preserve tech that's been abandoned by its original maker.
That's kind of how I feel about my original Xbox. The disc drives have a habit of failing and buying a new Xbox is cheaper than just replacing the disc drive but thankfully there are ways with custom firmware to replace the hard drive and play your backups.
Back in the day I always used CFW. I started with running homebrew on the official 1.52 FW. The evolution was one hell of a ride. I haven't used a PSP since 2010 I think. Has CFW added something different in all these years?
The OG CFW is before my time I'm afraid, so it's hard for me to say what's changed. It's pretty utilitarian if I'm honest but I can report it's super stable.
