It may've been a "right click > open link in new private window".

AFAIK that's for "open in a new tab", right?

Yes. Also it closes the tab if you click anywhere in the tab rectangle, do you don't have to chase the close tab button

Yeah but here the middle click wouldn't work because you need a private window?
