No evidence of precolonial tyranny here in Australia.
Customary law is vast and varied, it featured horrible practices such as young child girls being arranged to marry old men, enforcing binary gender role divisions “women’s business” or “men’s business”, and rulership by age and by having rulers not being anarchist.
Ultimately it was a patriarchal gerontocracy, that is tyranny.
