We just used very real materials to shape our "ideas". Which, as a species is a very badass thing to be able to do if you ask me.
I’d also like to point out that, while yes, we did make a lot of stuff up, people seem to be confused about the difference between something being “made up” and something being abstract.
Democracy is abstract. Numbers are abstract. Time is abstract. Value is abstract. Ideas are abstract. Shit, software is abstract.
Something being intangible does not necessarily mean it doesn’t exist.

I was about to say that software are processed and stored on some kind of physical analog media, ....but so are the thoughs in the brain. So i guess you're right.
It’s more that software is just the tangible manifestation of abstract logic
