I used troglodyte as a kid because i poached it off a tv show and felt dead smug around my friends. Once I noticed it being used by bigots I immediately dropped the word as it felt dirty and this was as a teen.
I'm sorry but some words just sound dehumanising and it says a lot about a person to keep using them into adulthood.
The fact its used to mock perceived stupidity and anyone with neurodivergence should say it all. That and once all thr G*mers learnt it it became a word to describe black people and feminists.
