Dieselpunk & Decopunk Art - Iron, Smoke, and Rivets
Guidelines
- Titles should be in the format
"[Title]" by [Artist]
- If adding the artists social media handle after their name, use [square brackets]
- If adding a year after the title, use (parenthetical brackets)
- If posting your own art, preface the title with
[OC]
- Please include the original source in the post body
- This community is meant for showcasing artists' work - this excludes
- AI generated artwork
- Screenshots from films or games
- Submitting the link from the original source instead of downloading and rehosting is recommended
- This will ease server stress on smaller lemmy instances
- /!\ Many mobile apps don't generate previews unless the url ends with a common file extension /!\
- Therefore, if possible, please strip all parameters after
.png
,.jpg
, etc.
- Mark posts as NSFW when necessary (nudity/violence)
- Due to the inextricable nature of the dieselpunk artstyle and WWII content:
- All nazi and nazi-like (example) insignia should be marked NSFW
- I will clarify that this community has a zero-tolerance policy for nazi sympathy

you do like your stålenhag, don't you
(i don't blame you, his stuff is great)
I admit I'm really biased :).
As a Rozalski fan, can you shed some light on the culmination of that kerfuffle back when, regarding the sourcing of his inspirations? I'm a huge Scythe fan (one of the first OG backers, fully kitted complete set, and still one of my top five boardgames), so I'd love to hear that it's all resolved and he's back to creating more incredible, original works! 🤓🤘🏼
i'm afraid i cant. i followed him by rss until tumblr rss stopped working in the eu and never got around to fixing it, so i don't even know of the kerfuffle your refer to. i've never even played scythe (my friends aren't really into board games)
Jakub Różalski painter plagiarism
alright; i skimmed the thread on reddit; and apart from the unreadably tiny image:
most of it seems like sensationalism and deliberate drama. oh noes, he drew a mech on a slope! and there was a being on the slope too!.^[the angle and scale are different? and there's a path too‽] some of the comments do seem like he possibly painted over existing photographs, but; that's not new. many artists do that. and he changed the style and added things, it's hardly plagiarism. some of them aren't even the same stance...
i think stegmaier says it best. it's possible i'm biased because i really like his art; but i don't think so, i think i would defend anyone in this position as this is just reddit witchhunts and idiocy

I came to the same conclusion, but thank you for going the distance and compiling such a comprehensive primer on the facts of thing. 🤓🤘🏼 Hopefully, once that other site dies the true death, this post can serve as an elucidating and clarifying resource to future curious folks. 👨🍳🤌🏼
