Wow, the other comments are amazing.

My partner and I love this genre in particular and y'all took most of my answers!

Some that I did not see mentioned yet:

  • Paddington / Paddington 2: so so so so good. The second might be better than the first

  • Rushmore: Wes Anderson before he was a meme. A bit crass but quite fun.

  • Ponyo: Myazaki movie, lovely animation, brings us to tears and is suitable for many moods

  • Polyester: Devine-starred comedy that is over the top, full of love, and so funny

  • Lars and the Real Girl: Ryan Gosling is a hermit and falls in love with a sex doll. The entire small town rallies together to try and reintegrate him into society.
