Finally went and watched Barbie, probably an unpopular opinion but I thought it was just kind of good, not great or brilliant, but just good.

I think it served it's purpose well though, another Hollywood movie designed in everyway to become perfect media fodder.

No I think you've probably arrived at the consensus view. A great soundtrack, set design, good funny moments, and a nice message, but more than a few awkward moments and will not be remembered for good writing.

I think what I'll remember it for is the insane marketing and how some dudes were ridiculously upset by it (and countries banning it).

It was only banned for displaying a map that appears you show China's "nine dash line". That's rather contentious at the moment.

You're talking about Vietnam but Lebanon, Kuwait I think UAE and Algeria did too.
