He engineered a grain shortage in bangladesh to forestall false rumours of a japanese invasion that killed 3-6 million people.
An author I like dug into it, a war author that dug into it after the war, didn't find enough to make the allegations, they did do it though, and was targeted by the House of Unamerican Activities committee.
He refused to testify and was imprisoned for a year for contempt, they were scheming on sending him up on 10 years on some federal charge but didn't eventually.
