Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

I have zero faith that this country will remove him.
This is the first time they've done it in the face of an impending blue wave, though. I was actually considering just a few days ago that, given the polls, republicans removing trump might be their only chance (besides a full-on military coup) at retaining any shred of power through midterms. What's left of the republican party will fall flat on its face without trump (as cults typically do), but they also can't afford to keep him around because he's so supremely unpopular.
They've really backed themselves into a corner. Now the question is: how overtly fascist are they willing to go? Is the impeachment just a hedge to try and survive midterms? Guess we'll see...
Speaking as a cult survivor here, cults can be surprisingly resilient when they have a clear order of succession, regardless of the popularity of the current leader. If they have a rigid hierarchy and clear authority transferred by the cult leader, they can effectively project that power to an extremely personal level. (ex. Mormons, traditionalist Catholics, North Korea, the CCP, Scientology)
However, MAGA doesn't have a clear and organized hierarchy, just a blob of figureheads vying for Trump's addlebrained reins. I think it will splinter and they'll do what fascists do best and eat each other as soon as they have no clear target for their rabid fervor. It'll probably fragment into its base white supremacist hate groups and those splinters will embed themselves deeper into the flesh of the body politic. They'll sprout again as a new ugly weed in another 30 years.
MAGA has all the ingredients for a long-term presence as a political cult. The words feel disgusting to type, but I'm kinda glad that his assassination attempts failed. Martyring him would have made him immortal to his followers, it likely would have made JD Vance a more attractive figure. He would have been able to consolidate power while his predecessor was still popular. Just look what happened to the Mormons after Joseph Smith got his ass shot to hell in Missouri.
They couldn't even pass a measure to pause hostilities against Iran, there's no way they will have the 2/3 senate vote needed to remove him from office. I doubt it even has the 50% house vote to advance the impeachment process to that stage.
The majority of American politicians in office approve of Trump and what he's doing. Maybe after some seats shuffle in the midterms, which is already overly optimistic, there might be margins just slim enough to convince a handful of senators to cross the aisle and vote Trump out of office. But even then, I wouldn't hold out much hope of that happening. MAGA voters remain committed to the cult, and Republican incumbents want to keep those votes to stay in office.
The GOP always puts party before country.
But the unfortunate truth is that if you look at all serious presidential impeachments, the votes went almost exactly down party lines. Regardless of the party. Fortunately for the left, though, this time it's Republicans who are clearly in the wrong.
IIRC, no senator had ever voted to convict an impeached president in their own party until Mitt Romney did against Trump.
It's just weird to think that they have this big trial, and present tons of evidence, and the most important factor in how you judge the case is which side of the room you're sitting on. Nothing to do with the actual trial.
So, unless Republicans actually start doing their jobs and follow the Constitution and start working to benefit their constituents and stop breaking their oaths of office, the only chance America has for justice is if there is a massive blue wave in the elections this year.
Won't even impeach him this time.
Not when half the population seems to think a man like Elon is the smartest man in the world despite plenty of conveniently ignored evidence to the contrary.
Wouldn’t matter anyway. Most of the government seems to consist of folks that have Trumps dick so far down their throats that he’s solely responsible for the shit that falls out of their asses every time they speak.
The cult in power makes it impossible to do so legally. The only way he'd be removed is by other means.
By the Guilloputine!
