Day one of my AI-designed training program. Pic is me at gym right now, and not AI. :)
I had AI build all the workouts custom for me based on my current times, fitness level, height, weight, wingspan, etc. Today is weights followed by rowing later after rest. Then more rowing. Oh and even more rowing after that. Very specific on what times I need to hit and when I need to hit them. (listening to Lolo Jones audiobook bio as I work out)
Just used a LLM, and printed out. So not a commercial app or anything.
I know a ton of people on Lemmy love claiming AI is slop and terrible at everything but I’m calling bullshit on that.
Not everyone can afford a professional trainer so this is where AI turns out to be a great equalizer if you're motivated enough to actually do the work.
It's awesome. I'll just keep posting in this thread with my workouts and journey. Not so much for people to care or follow, but for me to get into habit of documenting my progress on here and Mastadon. I'm very aware no one cares. :)
Thanks, brother! Yeah, AI is actually one of the more useful things mankind has ever invented, but Lemmy thinks it's the most horrible thing. Because a lot of people on Lemmy just want to be angry. About everything. I've seen Lemmy bitch about "only" making $100K salaries. If someone can bitch about that, then nothing will make them happy. They don't want to be happy.
I'm no fan of AI slop, but I think the good outweighs the bad. And not every ai is a megacorporation ai. Most of my ai is local llm.
For this plan, I went to AI, told it to go online and search all the college and high school rowing athlete plans out there, with weights workouts, and told it to adapt them based on latest science info on muscle/speed gain from everything out there. And base it around my specific specs and info.
Sure, I could have spent weeks doing all that research, then tried to modify the information and data for my own use. But the AI frakin' did it in about 45 seconds. And gave me the reference links it used, and it's reasoning.
Then took that info, and put into a usable spreadsheet format that I could use. So another 30 seconds to do that.
All of that in a little over a minute. People using ai to make pics of birds knocking over trees and posting on youtube for clicks... meh, not my preferred use of the tech. But using it to do deep research, and give reference links and reasoning, and reformat everything exactly the way I want in less than a minute? Hell yes!
Oh, and I used AI to make personalized music for me. So Lemmy can double-hate me. haha
