And people say conspiracies never happen because it's impossible to keep secrets among a large group of people forever.

I mean they're mostly right in that sooner or later some truth may leak out, but by that point it is much too late and the damage is already done. How late and how much depends on the training and discipline of those involved- high level army campaigns keep actual war crimes under lid for decades, and they get away with it.

And it's good to remember that the mafia and cartels are literally criminal conspiracies that function extremely well for decades on end and be dynastic, involve literally tens of thousands of people, and even though we know what they're up to, we can't get to them.

Just a tangential thought that occurred to me.

Edit: Also, gotta say, that's a pretty clever scam. And insurance companies were the victims- fuck'em. Nice racket. $20 mil in Nepal/Asia ain't breadcrumbs.
