Totally agree. Glad I'm not happy and proud with my life, my relationship and the choices I've made.
Someone else being happy with their life isn’t a condemnation on yours.
Four kids and a husband sounds like a nightmare to me as well, but the father clearly is happy about it. And that’s ok.
Although the remark about bragging suggests that this guy is unaware of the existence of other standards, which is something he can be legitimately mocked for.
It was an attempt to be polite because he was expressing extreme happiness for himself and that can be taken as selfish in this type of social interaction.
Lol you don't need to have kids to be happy/successful and proud of your life.
You do if you have nothing to feel happy or successful about.
Children aren't and shouldn't be responsible for making their parents happy.
Classic false dichotomy
Why are you taking offense to someone saying your lifestyle sounds terrible to them? They're not saying you must be unhappy, just that they don't want to live that way.
I don't want kids, and I'm sure those with kids that they wanted are very happy, and I'm glad there are people for whom that is a happy life because it wouldn't be to me.
I'm not taking offense. It sounded to me like the guy in this image was taking offense. I was asking the same questions, you're asking me now. "Why would you take offense to someone saying they're happy?" Clearly I'm the only one interpeting it that way
I don't know if the original person in the picture meant it that way, but I do know that this meme is frequently used to start an antinatalist circle jerk, so I support you coming out swinging.
The antinatalists and the childfree don't need much to make themselves the victims in comment sections tbf
Haha thanks for the heads up. No regerts XD
Yeah I don't think the guy in the image was taking offense, it was just a funny response to the father apologizing for being so happy.
The remark about bragging suggests that this guy is unaware of the existence of other standards, which is something he can be legitimately mocked for.
It’s a question of figuring out who and what you are. What defines you and gives you purpose as an individual vs tryimg to stuff all of that into a role that leans heavily on another human being doing that for you.
Oof, triggered?
They’re trying to convince themselves more than us.
