Cronenberg's filmography is pretty even all things considered and each movie has something unique to offer so its a matter of preference.

idk.... I've only seen 5 of his movies but personally those seemed to fall into a couple different tiers:

innovative cult classics, some of the most memorable movies out there: Videodrome, Naked Lunch
standard issue movies, well done but typical fare: Dead Zone, The Fly
I see what he was going for but it didn't really work and he did it better previously: eXistenZ

I'm not hatin tho, if eXistenZ resonated for you that's cool, I should def. check out some of his other stuff too.
