shit pisses me off - they were never even considered for the oscar for best animation. the entire industry kinda looked at cg as cheating. film had 15 minutes of cg, rendered on computers that made future SGI machines look cheap. the fact that they made it in 1980-81 still blows my mind.

Institutions gonna gatekeep, eh. Meanwhile Tron Legacy had some of the most impressive CGI of its generation (excluding de-aged Jeff Bridges although its not a knock) and most of it you can barely notice and all it wasn't nominated either.
