Under my plan Putin doesn't get all he wants. He will be getting far less territory than he wants.

Except he's not in it for territories.

Also you got to remember all previous attempts to pacify an aggressor, starting from a nice chap by the name of Neville.

Territory with its resources is his primary reason for wanting Ukraine. My proposal doesn't appease Putin. He will have to cede all territory he seized after the 2022 invasion.

Where did this conclusion come from?

[–] panthera_@lemmy.today -1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Putin has said he wants the Donbas region.

[–] Unpigged@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You do realize that four Ukrainian regions were written into Russian law and they are not Do bass?

This supports my view that Putin wants land. The reason is Ukraine's natural resources. Ukraine is considered the breadbasket of Europe.

Yeah but without compensation / reparations ? It’s absolutely a bad deal for the victims.

[–] panthera_@lemmy.today -3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You have to have a deal that Putin might accept. Putin will certainly reject a deal which requires reparations.

I don’t think any one has to have a deal that they themselves cannot accept… why would the Zelensky dude and our fellow Ukrainians have to settle? They seem like a pretty brutal and opinionated bunch…

No one « have to » until they are all eating dirt really.

Ukraine will accept my proposal because it would end a war which is killing its people and which it might not win. The problem is whether Putin will accept the proposal.
