Rules:
- Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.
Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

- Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
- Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
- No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
- Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

There's a time for laughter, and a time for tears.
If you want it to be all tears all the time, you won't get very far. And this is a marathon, not a sprint.
There’s also a time for anger and rage, It’s when people are being murdered. The time for tears is when the killing has been stopped.
These no kings protests are a pressure release valve for the regime.
Well if you blow a gasket then you can't hold any pressure, so it's good that it's being channeled somewhere.
A "time" doesn't have to refer to extensive periods of months or years at a time. You can rage monday morning, cry in the afternoon, laugh in the evening, then do it all over again on tuesday.
So stop trying to squeeze everything into absolutes.
You can go to a protest and network with like-minded people. But if you choose to do nothing but complain about it online, waiting for some magical revolution to materialize out of thin air and solve everyone's problems without any planning or coordination, then quite frankly I can't be bothered to try convincing you otherwise. But I'm personally not upset that millions of people are choosing to channel their anger more productively...
the media has already dismissed the protest it’s looking like
Good thing we don't have to let the media determine what we do or focus on. I mean yeah it's shitty that they gloss over it. Most of the big name media companies are owned by right-wingers by now. But that's no reason to stop demonstrating. If anything, it's more reason to demonstrate...
it’s more reason why only protesting was never going to work. they were your leverage, and they were dismantled. now more direct methods need to be done. such as a general strike.
You mean like the one that the No Kings organizers are planning for May Day?
You can keep coming up with reasons why it's never enough, or you can show up, be a part of it, boost for visibility, collect names and numbers/emails for your org, network with other orgs in your area, and contribute to the collective effort and momentum that's underway.
But if you prefer to be a naysayer and always move the goalposts, then, well quite frankly I don't have the time or energy to try convincing you otherwise...
i am interested in their general strike, though i do think that spacing it out so far from a protest is hurting the effort, for a dramatic “may day” but a general strike is more in line with what i was thinking would be necessary.
I think it's a delicate balance they need to walk. They need to maintain widespread appeal to keep engagement up without exhausting everybody participating.
Every small victory builds momentum, but it has to be sustained. Trying to go all out all at once is a recipe for failure.
