I've tried to watch it many times... Just can't get into it.
Have you been with a bunch of drunken friends who know the lines as part of a big night out?

It's not something you understand or get. You just experience it
If you watch it by itself, the only thing good is gonna be the music.
You need to either go to a midnight showing at a local theatre or get a copy that includes the extra "audience participation" parts. The movie is just the tip of the iceburg when it comes to what makes it super special to a lot of people. Myself included.
it is one of those movie that require "turning it off" so to speak. you just need to let it do its thing
