Welcome to a Star Trek community where you’re free to chat and share your opinions about all things Trek!

I want to have a place where fans can come to praise, discuss, and even criticise things in the Star Trek franchise. No show or movie is perfect, and I don't believe people should be silenced for having a dissenting opinion. That being said, there are still a few rules.

Be Nice - No personal attacks. You can disagree with someone's opinion, but it needs to stop there.

No Slurs - This is applicable to ethnicity, religion, gender, or anything else.

No Adult Content - Keep it family friendly.

No Spamming or Trolling - Consistently spamming comments or trolling is just not needed.

Keep Topics Trek Related - This is a Star Trek community, so of course discussion should stay in that area! That means no real world politics.

Vulcans are supposed to be the most logical beings but it seems oddly unlogical they greet each other with "live long and prosper"

The greeting seems to be concerned to much reflecting a general physics understanding of life and reality.

That's why I'm looking for alternative Vulcan greetings like:

One person says: Variable The other says And not the opposite of anything

Or Accept indeterminacy

For me as Austrian the desire of vulcans to negate their Emotionality is very relatable. That's why I cannot accept that they are supposwd to have reached a high level of reasonability without having learned to integrate their emotions. I think that's why Spock turned out to be such a influential figure. He just resonates with a lot of the real life contradictions and desires humans have. Btw. the super strength of vulcans is a result of their logicality (which is only narrative, but not feasible when you look how they original script describes their evolution, as you also mentioned). Or how else do you describe those capacities of mind connection and fighting techniques where special pressure points render opponents defenseless?
