Economic sanctions as a result of their own aggression, and they still have trade partners like China.
I didn't know they bombed the US back to the iron age in the Korean War, I thought it was the other way around.

So you're saying the reason the USA sanctions the north and not the south is because they bombed the north and not the south which is also because, again, they bombed the north and not the south? The USA and North Korea have been in some infinite time loop forever?

The South Korean dictatorship was propped up by the US, and had the chance to develop economically, which lead to a gradual democratization.
The North Korean dictatorship was sanctioned to starvation levels, which historically always leads to more authoritarian leadership.

So if we just sell the guys threatening nuclear apocalypse all the cheap grains and livestock they want then they'll automagically transform into a democracy on their own.
OK Pal. So why hasn't China evolved? Why did Russia backslide into autocracy? And if it really has everything to do with trade and nothing to do with local policy, why can't China and Russia sell them what they need to evolve?
