Flippant Anarchism. A lighter take on social criticism with the aim of agitation.

Post humorous takes on capitalism and the states which prop it up. Memes, shitposting, screenshots of humorous good takes, discussions making fun of some reactionary online, it all works.

This community is anarchist-flavored. Reactionary takes won't be tolerated.

Don't take yourselves too seriously. Serious posts go to !anarchism@lemmy.dbzer0.com

Rules

  1. If you post images with text, endeavour to provide the alt-text

  2. If the image is a crosspost from an OP, Provide the source.

  3. Absolutely no right-wing jokes. This includes "Anarcho"-Capitalist concepts.

  4. Absolutely no redfash jokes. This includes anything that props up the capitalist ruling classes pretending to be communists.

  5. No bigotry whatsoever. See instance rules.

  6. This is an anarchist comm. You don't have to be an anarchist to post, but you should at least understand what anarchism actually is. We're not here to educate you.

  7. No shaming people for being anti-electoralism. This should be obvious from the above point but apparently we need to make it obvious to the turbolibs who can't control themselves. You have the rest of lemmy to moralize.

Talking about the problems without also talking about the solution just angers people who don’t know how to fix things, which is not productive.

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago (3 children)

We all know what the solution is. But talking about it gets you banned and/or comments removed.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

No one here will ban you for talking about overthrowing capitalism and overthrowing the state?

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Depends on whether your comment involves threats of violence or not. Threats of violence are almost always met with a comment removed at minimum.

Here?

@db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com we can say we should kill the US politicians in a revolution, right?

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I ain't your dad. However I do find such statements counter productive as it just scares people away from what anarchism is really about.

As for politicians, I'd rather make them equal to the rest of us. For those who've spent all their lives pampered in privilege that would feel intolerable. Of course the fash can get bashed

[–] 01011@monero.town 1 points 1 week ago

There is no peaceful way to overthrow capitalism.

[–] RustySharp@programming.dev 3 points 1 week ago

talking about it gets you banned

What about posting an image of a green hat?

[–] org@lemmy.org 3 points 1 week ago

So find the mods and change their minds. Or, start a lemmy community with less moderation.

Leftists: posts agitprop meme

Liberals: "you can't just be angry, you need solutions!"

Leftists: posts meme with appropriate historical context and potential solutions

Liberals: "you leftists always talk too much, give me a tl;dr"

[–] org@lemmy.org 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Not what is happening. You’re a good example of what I’m talking about though. Thanks for that.

[–] rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm illustrating the pattern you liberals always use in response to our memes. The through line is that we never do it the "right" way. You came to an anarchist space to criticize our agitprop, and then get confused when we don't play your game. Why do we need a dissertation to go along with our agitprop?

[–] org@lemmy.org 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I’m an anarchist. Sorry hon. Not gonna win.

[–] rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I don't believe you, but whatever. Since when has agitprop required a dissertation?

[–] org@lemmy.org 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Refusing to have conversations helps nothing.

[–] rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Ok, so why did you chastise OP instead of starting the conversation?

[–] org@lemmy.org 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I commented on the meme, not the user. And the conversation was about how these memes are missing the solution part.

[–] rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

these memes are missing the solution

That's not the point of agitprop. It never has been, and never will be.

[–] org@lemmy.org 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

just angers people who don’t know how to fix things

You.

[–] rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Are you trolling, or do you have a point?

[–] org@lemmy.org 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)
[–] rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I've consistently said my point. Agitprop does not communicate solutions. It never has, and never will. The IWW did a lot of agitprop. Mr. Block comes to mind, as an example. They communicated grievances and got people upset at the current system. Education comes after the agitprop. This is like organizing 101 stuff.

[–] org@lemmy.org 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I see no actions coming from this. Nothing is changing. Failed experiment. Solutions need to be added, new memes need to be generated.

[–] rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Fine, if that's how you feel then do it yourself instead of complaining.

[–] org@lemmy.org 1 points 1 week ago

I’m allowed to complain. They like it when we fight with each other.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

If people aren’t sufficiently angry at the system, they won’t bother to listen to a solution.

Gotta raise the discontent and class consciousness first.

[–] org@lemmy.org 1 points 1 week ago

It’s raised as far as it’s going to get. The system will have to get worse, but there won’t be the “until it gets better” part. It’s just going to keep getting worse until it’s so far gone no one can fix it.
