While Webb had pleaded guilty to 5 of the 17 charges against her, Updike found her guilty on all 17 charges, which includes one felony.

The judge sentenced Webb on one count of felony child abuse to five years, four of that suspended. She was also sentenced on five misdemeanors, with that time running concurrently with the felony offense. In total, Webb was sentenced to nine years, but will only serve twelve months behind bars.

I genuinely don't understand the justice system. She's found guilty of 17 charges, including 1 felony, and was sentenced to 9 years, because it's all on video... yet will only serve 1!? A cop could catch me smoking a joint, and I'd serve more time!

My total guess would be that the rest of that is going to be either in-patient mental rehabilitation, or a mandatory out-patient psych check in schedule, where if she misses too many appointments, back to in-patient or jail.

This is again though a total guess; I do not know how the UK system works.

EDIT:

Ahhh haha, just because its from the Independent doesn't mean the story took place in the UK, derp.

So its Virginia... uh, yeah, same guess, I don't know how this works in Virginia either.
