Apparently this paper came out a few years ago but the takeaway is that a lot of what vendors were selling as either the "Natal Super Strain" of P. cubensis or as P. natalensis turned out to be this new species P. ochraceocentrata which is an even closer relative of P. cubensis than (the actual) P. natalensis.

Not too sure which paper you are refering to. The one linked in this article was published last week.

It was circulating for a couple years before it was reviewed and officially published, the sites selling spores had already updated their nomenclature.

Could you share the link of this review you are talking about? I ask this because it seems to me it could easily be another study. For example, in the references there are over 90 of those.
