Americans think it's normal to pledge allegiance to a flag in school, they thank people for "their service" Indoctrination has been happening the whole time and it works.
I don't do either of those things anymore. I barely want to stand for the national anthem. Our military worship in this country is basically taken on a cult like energy.
Don't many countries do this?
I had a two exchange students from Germany one time. I, and a couple students, stood up for the pledge of allegiance. I asked the German students if the whole thing felt a little Heil-ish. They both sighed and nodded, they told me they had talked about it, but didn't want to bring it up and make things awkward.
And I don't think anyone should say "thank you for your service" to mercenaries.
