1000 Days! (wetshav.ing)

Today marks an unofficial milestone for the wetshaving fediverse, as we've reached out 1000th SOTD post.

According to my calculations today actually marks 1005 days from the first post made by @merikus@wetshav.ing . That also means 1005 days (including today) since the first SOTD post.

Why is the numbering wrong? Surely it's my fault! I started adding numbers to the daily threads a while ago and I'm pretty sure I started with the correct number, but I could have been wrong. More than likely the count got off at some point between messing around with automation, switching to PieFed, etc.

What do you think? Should I get the numbering back on track or leave it be?

This is only made possible by the continued moral support of you, the users! Thanks for hanging around and using this stuff.

To commemorate this event, I'm happy to announce the incoming addition of custom icons and banners for the services that we host! See some previews below! These were created by the venerable RayMoonie.

Ditching Reddit has been great for me. Sometimes I miss niche communities, but the comments are so much more interesting/worthwhile on the fediverse.

I agree that there should maybe be discussion about how to grow the community. I wonder if it would be more effective to try to attract other fediverse users or instead to focus on getting Redditors to migrate... Or perhaps some completely different direction.

I have been trying to get myself involved more in commenting in other communities (and eventually posting hopefully) to get the wetshav.ing name out there more but I don't really have a good feel for how much that sort of thing actually attracts traffic.

I'm at a loss for this. I thought having our own activities like the Buena Vista Wetshaving Social Club would attract interest, but that is an activity that becomes difficult to sustain as the group grows beyond about 10 people.
