Happened to me yesterday. Found an old whiteboard that I'd written on and tried to use the eraser but it didn't come off even when pressing hard. So I tried this and it happened to work great. Now I can use it again.

You can also use dry erase marker to clean off permanent marker from a white board (just draw over the "permanent lines" with dry erase ones)
