Sounds like a blowout to me.

But it was the opposite for the subject identified in the headline. The anti-trans candidate did not have a blowout victory but lost substantially. They're using the inverse of the common phrase you defined. It's confusing.

The anti-trans candidates got blown out, imagine it's like... out of an airlock, or out of an exploding building. Getting blown out is bad, you're on the receiving end of the blowout.

As a parent, I've been on the receiving end of many blowouts
