It’s interesting that tv streaming channels seem afraid to adopt a pay per view model similar to audio streaming. Music artists don’t get paid by Spotify et al unless someone listens to their song. It sounds like tv studio back catalog titles pay out residuals even if no one is watching that title.

I’m guessing studios are worried switching payment models would open up viewership numbers through reverse engineering, or a neutral accounting go between?

It puts the negotiating power in the hands of the execs, but mainly it hurts wga/sag members for successful shows/films.

In corporate you want to keep your metrics fuzzy and everyone else's crystal clear.
