but at the same time, if this is what it ends up taking to finally free the Iranians from their oppressors -

Unfortunately, I suspect Iraq will be the most positive likely outcome for Iran. In other words, a brutal tyrant is removed, but the resulting government utterly lacks efficacy and legitimacy and is so incompetent that those who didn't live through the tyrant's reign have nostalgia for it.

Im not so sure. Their king is in exile in America and they want him back. From what I could understand, the wish among many Iranians is that he will come back, be the anchor while the waves settle and eventually the plan will be to transition into democracy. But this is not gonna happen tomorrow. This war will take some time and things will not be all smooth and easy, but personally, I have faith that this potentially could be the first step towards a better future for Iran. But it is so friggin dizzying because it’s so many different interests at play and different motivations and none of them are about Iran’s true sovereignty but mostly about power and money - as it always is. I just so hope that them getting their freedom back will be one outcome of all this mess. They have suffered immensely and they deserve peace.

Despite the Crown Prince's very vocal supporters, opinions on the monarchy are much more divided than they would have you believe, including in the diaspora, not just those still living in Iran.

Yeah, nothing is ever simple and easy like we might want it to be. I spoke with my boyfriend about it and he’s of the mindset that right now it’s better to just observe and see what happens. And hope for the best. I wish I could be that chill about it, honestly.
