The Washington Post reported that activists are working with the White House on an executive order to declare a “national emergency” over America’s elections and pave the way for a power grab.

“Pro-Trump activists who say they are in coordination with the White House are circulating a 17-page draft executive order that claims China interfered in the 2020 election as a basis to declare a national emergency that would unlock extraordinary presidential power over voting,” reported the Post‘s Isaac Arnsdorf. “President Donald Trump has repeatedly previewed a plan to mandate voter ID and ban mail ballots in November’s midterm elections, and the activists expect their draft will figure into Trump’s promised executive order on the issue.”

Peter Ticktin, a MAGA activist in favor of the executive order, told the Post that “we have a situation where the president is aware that there are foreign interests that are interfering in our election processes,” and that “the president has to be able to deal with it,” including by banning mail-in ballots and certain voting machines.

Someone please lock Dem leadership in a closet somewhere so people who care can deal with this.

[–] Wataba@sh.itjust.works 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Where are these people who can deal with it?

Please, show some evidence that they actually exist. I don't need names and addresses, thats just opening them up as targets.

Do they exist? Because all I've seen is a lot of bitching and whining and declaring that no-one is good enough to do that.

[–] ceenote@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

The bar is not high. The members of the squad, who are some of the most popular members of congress in the country; Ro Khanna, who's trying to bring a war powers resolution to the floor that would check Trump's plan to attack Iran but is actively being undermined by Schumer and Jeffries because they want war with Iran. Bernie Sanders, the most popular senator in the country... You could literally draw Democrat names out of a hat and chances are they'd be better than Schumer and Jeffries.

Both sides are the same so we should just not vote and let Trump win.

-Leftists

Yep, any criticism of the weak zionist leadership that suppressed the 2024 autopsy which confirmed that their zionism is an albatross on the party and is actively undermining the Khanna/Massie war powers resolution because they want Trump to start a war with Iran is definitely a call to abandon democrats and let republicans win, not a call to replace the incompetent leadership with people who would crush the Republicans easily with an actual populist platform.

[–] UsernameHere@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

Leftists lose elections so consistently and have so few voters and so few candidates that they can’t even exist as a party. They need the democrats to even exist because the majority of voters are on the right or center of the political spectrum.

Leftist claiming they can win elections is like a fat sports fan criticizing the athlete that actually plays the game and has the ability to win.

Leftist have never won any where near as many elections as democrats.

[–] ceenote@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

Leftists didn't lose twice to an actual soup-for-brains man baby. Times have changed and people aren't happy with the status quo anymore. AOC and Bernie Sanders poll the highest in each house of congress and we haven't run one for president since FDR.

UsernameHere will argue that Clinton and Harris lost because they were women, or because the left didn't "vote blue no matter who", not seeing the irony of their claim.

Liberals don't have ideals, they flip flop to whatever opinion is convenient for them. One day women and men are equal, one day women are too weak to win elections. One day the left never won an election because it's irrelevant in numbers, one day the left lost the election by not voting for their zionist candidate.

[–] Krauerking@lemy.lol 3 points 1 month ago

They have the debate skills of current Charlie Kirk.

Pretend to ask question, don't listen. Spout something or ask a derailing question to make it look like they thought it through and then blame you on character attacks.

Whatever is the "winning" thought is not any form of effective communication I have ever seen. But it sure gets interaction. Their entire life on Lemmy seems to be this.

[–] UsernameHere@lemmy.world -4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

You’re making up an imaginary argument to argue against? Yeah that sounds like something a leftists would do.

Leftists have no ideals, they flip flop every election cycle when the opposition tricks them into not voting using whatever hot topic is relevant at the time. One day we need to stop Trump. The next day it is ok to not vote and let Trump take over and end elections and persecute immigrants, LGBTQ, women, people of color and build a new resort on Gaza beach.

[–] theolodis@feddit.org 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

So I understand that you resent leftists that didn't vote for Harris, because that lost the election?

Q.E.D.

[–] UsernameHere@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I didn’t bring that up because I resent them. Just to give evidence of how bad their judgement is and to prove how much of a liability it is for democrats to pander to them.

[–] theolodis@feddit.org 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I am citing a great thinker: "Leftist claiming they can win elections is like a fat sports fan criticizing the athlete that actually plays the game and has the ability to win."

So which is it, could leftists have won the election, or are they irrelevant, which is it?

[–] UsernameHere@lemmy.world -1 points 1 month ago

Leftist can’t win nation wide elections until voters want them to. The majority of which are to the right or center of the ideological spectrum.

Leftists claiming they know how to win elections better than democrats are lying to themselves as we can prove using actual nation wide election results.

Leftists that cannot win elections should not be attacking the party giving them a platform, they should be trying to win over voters.

[–] UsernameHere@lemmy.world -4 points 1 month ago

Look at how few leftists have won elections nation wide. That is an indicator of how bad they would lose in a nation wide election.

AOC and Bernie are in blue states and wildly unpopular elsewhere.

Trump used election tampering, foreign influence and had billionares literally buying votes and he barely won by like 1%. Leftists who have never won an election screech about this like it is a sign that democrats don’t know what they’re doing. While at the same time leftists are unable to win elections.

[–] Krauerking@lemy.lol 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Then why has every Democratic president that has won for the last 40 years run on progressive policy and any time they don't they lose to a Republican?

Literally Trump spouts leftist rhetoric in his recognition that the system is broken which appeals to his base. Just the people with money in the room whisper in his ear to not do anything cause its how they make their money.

"Leftists" might not have won near as much but progressive policy sure has. We aren't winning saying everything is good right now minus Trump

[–] UsernameHere@lemmy.world -2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Then why has every Democratic president that has won for the last 40 years run on progressive policy and any time they don't they lose to a Republican?

If the Democratic Party is running on a particular policy then by definition that policy is democratic not progressive.

Also, those same democrats will incorporate centrist policies to give the voters what they want.

A big reason leftists lose elections is because they convince themselves they don’t need to compromise to win over centrists which have many more voters than leftists.

Literally Trump spouts leftist rhetoric in his recognition that the system is broken which appeals to his base. Just the people with money in the room whisper in his ear to not do anything cause its how they make their money.

What leftist rhetoric has he spouted? I’ve only heard him spout right wing rhetoric.

"Leftists" might not have won near as much but progressive policy sure has.

Again, if democrats are running on this policy then it is the Democratic party’s policy. No party owns policy.

[–] Krauerking@lemy.lol 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Wants me to talk to them and answer questions.
Wants to downvote me and talk down to me.

You operate on bad logic just like saying that democratic party candidates running on progressive policy makes it DNC policy. Its still progressive policy. Just adopted ones.

Republican and Democratic are not sides of the political spectrum there are 4 points and you can fall into any spectrum of policy in any party and a good country doesnt have 2 and think one side is good and the other evil.
No party own policy and that means that they aren't beholden to run that policy either as seen by the DNC not, frequently.

And Trump loves single payer health care and has stated multiple times in his first term that the government should pay directly to the hospitals or people. And then started the whispers in his ear and suddenly "nobody knew healthcare could be so complicated"

He is an idiot who jumps to the easiest conclusions in his head and sometimes simple is progressive. It is not owned by a party and the DNC does not only provide it.

[–] UsernameHere@lemmy.world -1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Its still progressive policy.

No party own policy

You’re contradicting yourself
