The Signal messenger and protocol.

In my opinion, signal never needed secure backups. Although I'm sure it will open up a new revenue stream for them.

Every other end to end encrypted messenger allowed for backups (aside for imessage-apple). Signal is at it's absolute best with disappearing messages.
