(and they did good enough but you know I can't trust 100%) but then I realize for this task and many many task i used AI can be done with just core linux tools with 100% accuracy with 100% reproducibility and you won't have any suspicion and it's free and very fast
for this specific one task even a very cheap model Kimi-K2.5 cost $0.006 maybe this looks nothing but this is just one prompt think what if you create an agent that you use everyday (agents cost much more tokens)
like if i prompt like this everyday with 100 message in a month it'll cost
- if Moonshot Kimi-K2.5 ----- $18
- if OpenAI GPT-5.2 ----- $93
- if Google Gemini-3-Pro ----- $105
- if Claude Opus 4.6 ----- $200
what the hell??? this text is is not even that big! what if I feed youtube videos, large pdfs, full documentations or translate long texts?
maybe I can think "these models will be cheaper"
but the problem is not just cost
- in best chance it gives good-enough result, not best
- it's just simulate current information and it creates a loop (it'll always follow current trends)
- it's killing innovation
- you can't reproduce a result
- you can't really trust (simple example: there is a list off apps, one of them is streamio, and you ask a llm to list free apps, but it can hide stremio and you'l never know, ok this was fictional, then here is a real example if you ask "How to block ads on YouTube" some models will not suggest or even not mention Revanced)
- it's making us lazy and irrogant
- it's promote confident but not accurate information
- it's a single-point-of-failure
- it's killing creativity
- it's killing human interaction (think you use an llm to write a email for you and the receiver use a llm to summarize it and use llm to answer that email,,, than what's the meaning of communication?)
- it's promoting quick information shots (you can't summarize somethings, or you can't eli5 somethings you need to give hard efforts and time, if everyone summarize everything than why we'll have books, videos, articles... if you summarize something that mean it's not important for you and looking that is a problem from beginning)
From now on I'm starting an experiment for 1 week to see results;
- I will not use any AI/LLM
- I will block all AI/LLM websites
- For help I'll ask humans
I remember when Wikipedia started gaining traction and the alarm that was raised about how it couldn’t be trusted because anyone could edit it. At the time it was mentioned to discredit Wikipedia but I think in the long run it benefited it as a resource. Generally I think people know it’s a launching pad to learning not a definitive resource.
These days people ask an LLM a question and believe whatever bullshit it spots out as the god given truth. It’s absolutely fucking insane.
they treat llms as a oracle :::)
Wikipedia is GREAT, why I missed this treasure for years
but if we don't get new young editors in 10 years we may lose this treasure nytimes archive.org theguardian
