Explanation: After the ultraconservative dictator Sulla couped the government of the Roman Republic, one of the more infamous actions he performed was proscribing his enemies - placing them on a list wherein anyone and everyone was allowed to kill them, allowing the government to seize their wealth. The thing is, Sulla's enemies expanded at some point during the process from "People who had wronged him" to "People who had money he wanted". Curious how that works!
