Having a strong dejavu about having had the same dajavu a year ago that was a dejavu about this exact statement from a year ago before that.

Am I imagining or they keep saying that every year for the past 3-4 years?

I'm sure they must be right this time.

Yes. It's different this time because they've exhausted the cooling and compute power available on the planet. The adversity of the strong evidence that no breakthrough is possible with current tech will surely lead to a breakthrough.
