Why are we acting like a 3rd party isn't viable? If you want to point to the green party and libertarians, are you also going to point out how awful they are as options?

Why are we acting like a 3rd party isn’t viable?

Because there are no viable third parties? I mean, it's not complicated. What we want and what the system allows for are very different things unfortunately.

We are very far from a third party unless someone AMAZING comes on stage and somehow secures a massive amount of funding, which isn't impossible and I would be first in line to support such an effort, but I simply don't see it happening unless we get some kind of charismatic Robo Space Mamdani who was also born in the US and somehow can secure millions and millions of dollars for campaign funding, and can also make capital comfortable enough to not sabotage their campaign.

We just don't have a democracy strong enough to support this kind of change, the US is run by forces of capital.

FPTP doesn't allow for third parties.

This didn't stop the Whigs from being replaced by Abraham Lincoln's party. They were the Democratic Party of the time, a fair bit of which didn't care about slavery. Many former Whigs got frustrated with that, and left to form a party that would be opposed to slavery.

A major party has died, and we can do it again.

This is exactly how I see it

Third parties aren't viable for national level positions. They need to establish state and local strongholds to attract more voters and have any support if they ever won anything.
