I can't really speak to the other alternatives, but if someone offers you "mushroom coffee", don't take it if you were hoping for a cup of coffee.

It tastes nothing like coffee. Maybe there's benefits from drinking mushroom juice, but all they're doing by calling it coffee is annoying would be coffee drinkers.

I've tried a couple of them and while they didn't taste bad to me, they definitely weren't coffee and I didn't have any urge to seek them out again. I was amused by James Hoffman trying a bunch of them though!

I do like chicory though, as a big fan of bitter.
