The military is majority conservative, the same with the police, private security, and even the local gun club. Normalizing political violence is just about the dumbest thing the left can do in the US.
If ICE is at the poll stations then political violence has already been normalised.
Yes there is a difference between threats and action, so the left is only currently authorised to threaten violence.
I don't know what world you're living in, but political violence is already normalized.
Let me rephrase: it can, and probably will, get worse. It is not in the left's interest to hurry that process along.
The only way out is through. Delaying the inevitable only makes it harder and more bloody.
that sounds like a slogan, not a strategy
I didn't intend it as either. Just something that's true.
fair enough. why do you think that, though?
This chapter in US history is different in how it is being prosecuted. There has always been a battle between (let's not mince words) slavers and abolitionists. The US Civil War almost put that to rest, but then didn't. The exact same conflict has been brewing since, and now the federal government has taken the slaver side in a way that hasn't happened before, and it wields incredible military might.
The last shoe to drop is whether the Armed Forces of the United States will fall in line with the administration, or stand against in part or in full. Either way, there's going to be a fight.
In that case, shouldn't your focus be on building a broad political alliance of opposition that includes as much of the military as possible?
Mark Kelly, et al, started doing just that. It will take people who have not only the public and political reach to do so, but they'll also need to have the stamina and funds to be put through the courts for doing it.
I am not that person, and such people may not be successful anyway. As before, either way, there will be a fight. That's what I am prepared for.
That sucks, and I hope you're wrong, I can't say you're wrong to prepare, though. Solidarity from Norway
It's better to be prepared and wrong than unprepared and right.
I would agree its the dumbest thing they could do but not because Jeb has 15 guns and only 2 hands.
