In most places in my country, the locking pins are removed, to prevent spills from people who leave them running, in case of the auto stop not working.

I carry a rivet in my car to use as a pin

Why would they spill? They have automatic shutoff valves over here.

There are many scenarios, such as the user not putting the spout far enough in, or the spout being pulled out by someone tripping on the hose, etc... It's obviously rare, but when it happens it's really messy, and dangerous
