can we not trivialize slavery when there's actual slavery still happening?
They're both forms of actual slavery.
Would you like to tell me what that word means?
Would you like to look up the term, "wage slavery"?
In many respects, being a straight up slave can be better than wage slavery. No pretense of expecting any freedom. No worry about if you'll have a place to sleep or food to eat. No need to worry about, "what the hell am I going to do if I'm out on the street?"
No, this isn't to say any kind of slavery is acceptable. It's to point out that one can be enslaved in more than one way. It is, in fact, slavery of a different sort.
Or are you dumb enough to say indentured servitude isn't also slavery because there's a different term for it?
