Life Hack: don't plug it in. Ta-Da!
99% of the time this kinda shit is made in a way that it won't work without being plugged in or connected to wi-fi.
For example, instead of a lever to flush, you get a button. If the software isn't up to date, the button won't work.
It’s self powered by a turbine with the flow of the water. It either has a built in cell antenna or searches for an open WiFi hotspot.
Don't give them ideas.
I bought a new stove last year. setting a specific timer or temperature not by 5 is to connect it to WiFi and use the app.
want to set a timer for 13 minutes? fuck you.
want to bake something at 372 degrees? fuck you.
I would have sent it back if it weren't literally the only one that met all our needs except for the ones we weren't concerned for.
I agree that it sucks, but curious, what do you bake that needs such precision? (Even if you set it in the app, it'd probably still be ±5 degrees, unless you bought a really special stove)
sometimes I bake lab equipment to dry or sanitize it. the materials have very specific thresholds and it's nice to set it and forget it instead of having to babysit it the whole time.
what if it's a blender tho?
OMG, they are going to start doing this to AI-powered wifi routers, aren't they?! :-(
