THE POLICE PROBLEM
The police problem is that police are policed by the police. Cops are accountable only to other cops, which is no accountability at all.
99.9999% of police brutality, corruption, and misconduct is never investigated, never punished, never makes the news, so it's not on this page.
When cops are caught breaking the law, they're investigated by other cops. Details are kept quiet, the officers' names are withheld from public knowledge, and what info is eventually released is only what police choose to release — often nothing at all.
When police are fired — which is all too rare — they leave with 'law enforcement experience' and can easily find work in another police department nearby. It's called "Wandering Cops."
When police testify under oath, they lie so frequently that cops themselves have a joking term for it: "testilying." Yet it's almost unheard of for police to be punished or prosecuted for perjury.
Cops can and do get away with lawlessness, because cops protect other cops. If they don't, they aren't cops for long.
The legal doctrine of "qualified immunity" renders police officers invulnerable to lawsuits for almost anything they do. In practice, getting past 'qualified immunity' is so unlikely, it makes headlines when it happens.
All this is a path to a police state.
In a free society, police must always be under serious and skeptical public oversight, with non-cops and non-cronies in charge, issuing genuine punishment when warranted.
Police who break the law must be prosecuted like anyone else, promptly fired if guilty, and barred from ever working in law-enforcement again.
That's the solution.

Our definition of ‘cops’ is broad, and includes prison guards, probation officers, shitty DAs and judges, etc — anyone who has the authority to fuck over people’s lives, with minimal or no oversight.

They couldn't care less about the current situation or that their third party vote (I recognize this troll from before) helped make the current situation a reality. What this user cares about is agitation.
What are you talking about? You don't get to speak for me. I voted for a highly educated & distinguished doctor who opposed the genocide in Gaza & advocated for healthcare as a human right. I think it bothers you that I actually voted with a moral conscious.
I didn't have to try to wrap myself in a pretzel to vote for Stein. I'm proud of who I voted for. You can claim all you want that your Dick Cheney praising candidate was morally superior, but it doesn't make it true.
If you want my vote then earn it. I don't owe it to you. That is Democracy. What I saw & still see is a bunch of leftwing authoritarians trying to silence anyone critical of their beloved AIPAC puppets, demanding votes & wishing violence on anyone who doesn't do what they demand.
Stein had no chance of winning and you knew it. You voted for nobody. You didn’t vote. Not voting is mathematically equivalent to half a vote for the candidate you least support. You voted for Trump and everything his administration is doing now.
I voted for her cause she earned my vote. I listened to what she had to say & her message carried substantially more values than "can't think of anything I'd do differently than Joe" Kamala Cheney. You supported those responsible for the deaths of 20k+ children in Palestine. The Biden administration vetoed UN resolutions calling for a ceasefire. You voted for the indiscriminate killing of civilians. You're getting exactly what you voted for. I didn't vote for the indiscriminate killing of civilians. That is the difference.
Whatever. You’re either too dense to understand how you helped Trump win or are pretending to be. In any case, you are not virtuous; you are part of the problem. Might as well go join ICE, chud.
All the flimsy justification in the world doesn't make up for the fact that you didn't try to stop this. You empowered it.
Edit: lmao is this really how you're describing known Russian asset Jill Stein?
I tried to stop it. You ignored those who told you what would happen.
Are you back to seeing Russians everywhere? Are they in the room with you right now?

You're not fooling anyone.
