THE POLICE PROBLEM
The police problem is that police are policed by the police. Cops are accountable only to other cops, which is no accountability at all.
99.9999% of police brutality, corruption, and misconduct is never investigated, never punished, never makes the news, so it's not on this page.
When cops are caught breaking the law, they're investigated by other cops. Details are kept quiet, the officers' names are withheld from public knowledge, and what info is eventually released is only what police choose to release — often nothing at all.
When police are fired — which is all too rare — they leave with 'law enforcement experience' and can easily find work in another police department nearby. It's called "Wandering Cops."
When police testify under oath, they lie so frequently that cops themselves have a joking term for it: "testilying." Yet it's almost unheard of for police to be punished or prosecuted for perjury.
Cops can and do get away with lawlessness, because cops protect other cops. If they don't, they aren't cops for long.
The legal doctrine of "qualified immunity" renders police officers invulnerable to lawsuits for almost anything they do. In practice, getting past 'qualified immunity' is so unlikely, it makes headlines when it happens.
All this is a path to a police state.
In a free society, police must always be under serious and skeptical public oversight, with non-cops and non-cronies in charge, issuing genuine punishment when warranted.
Police who break the law must be prosecuted like anyone else, promptly fired if guilty, and barred from ever working in law-enforcement again.
That's the solution.

Our definition of ‘cops’ is broad, and includes prison guards, probation officers, shitty DAs and judges, etc — anyone who has the authority to fuck over people’s lives, with minimal or no oversight.

Democrats voted to kill 20k+ children in Gaza. Hope they don't get what they voted for here.
While I agree with you, this post doesn't really have any framing of our duopoly. Dragging this post into electoral politics doesn't seem constructive
You voted for Jill Stein, in other words you voted for this. Probably why you're trying to shift attention away from it.
I voted for someone who opposed genocide & actually had a policy of healthcare as a human right. Did you vote for that Dick Cheney praising coconut who pledged her unconditional support to an apartheid country carrying out a genocide?
And what's Jill Stein doing all this? Where is her resistance movement?
Or will you finally realize that she's like a groundhog who only pokes her head out of the ground once every 4 years
The result of your vote was what's happening now, and a toddler could've seen it coming.
Tell me, am I supposed to believe you didn't see it coming? Or am I to believe that you think things are better currently than they would have been under Harris?
Either way I ain't buying either line of bullshit. You voted for this. Jill Stein is a huge fraud and everyone knows that. Including you.
Also keep in mind your decision to try and change the subject from the post is why everyone is rightly calling you out.
No I saw it coming. You didn't see it coming. People on the left screamed he was an authoritarian while saying we should criminalize speech, banned people for being critical of the DNC, etc. People like you warned others about the authoritarian while acting like a bunch of authoritarians. You voted for indiscriminately slaughtering civilians. You're getting what you supported.
Lol I don't believe you're that delusional, comrade
Don’t bother. They’re either in Russia or a useful idiot to those in Russia.
Either way you’re wasting time. Half these cunts are in Russia, a decent vote turnout wipes the rest and they aren’t by your side when the shit hits the fan.
Seriously doubt that twat was even 18 in 2024
You voted for a known GOP spoiler candidate who takes money from fascists while Trump was out there openly threatening to use the military against his own people. Let's not forget that he also said that immigrants "poison our blood of our country" as if they're a fucking virus.
None of you third party voters, apathetics, or Trump-voting swing voters gets to pretend you didn't know that he was a white supremacist.
You knew what Trump was planning. You chose to throw a fit instead of voting for the lesser evil, which was the only legitimate choice we had as voters.
You enabled fascism in this country because you were too immature to do the hard thing. Kamala was a lot of things but she wasn't going to order ICE to invade our fucking cities.
Anyone can find fact-checked information about Stein here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jill_Stein
Your narrative falls apart as soon as anyone does fact-based research.
Kamala Cheney pledged her unconditional loyalty to Israel. She wouldn't even let a Palestinian speak at the DNC convention:
https://www.npr.org/2024/08/24/nx-s1-5086924/the-dnc-didnt-let-a-palestinian-american-speak-the-uncommitted-movement-took-note
So you voted for the indiscriminate killing of civilians. You're getting what you voted for. Simple as that.
Oh yeah, and not voting against the party that is outspoken in taking Israel’s side is somehow better for Gaza?
The Democrats own website brags about how much more they support Israel than Republicans.
Still pushing that narrative, comrade?
They'd rather die than stop.
Yes you're right. I'd rather die standing up for the truth than live down on my knees.
You'd rather die than stop advocating for Republicans while pretending to be moral, instead of a disgusting fraud
I didn't advocate for Republicans. That was Kamala Cheney who was very supportive of neocons like Dick Cheney & John McCain.
you might as well be advocating for the republicans, you sound just like them.
Sure you didn't, Russian asset voter.
Comrade? I haven't heard that in a while. They aren't teaching you anything new at BlueMIGA Elementary?
Do you think democrats would have lead to the situation we are in now?
They are the reason we are here. Instead of delivering what the democratic voters demanded in 2020, they funded ICE, diverted covid funds to police, appointed an AG who chose not to lock up Trump, and sent the police to kick the shit out of the politically activated college students who make up the dem's ground game.
They did lead to the situation we are in now.
They couldn't care less about the current situation or that their third party vote (I recognize this troll from before) helped make the current situation a reality. What this user cares about is agitation.
What are you talking about? You don't get to speak for me. I voted for a highly educated & distinguished doctor who opposed the genocide in Gaza & advocated for healthcare as a human right. I think it bothers you that I actually voted with a moral conscious.
I didn't have to try to wrap myself in a pretzel to vote for Stein. I'm proud of who I voted for. You can claim all you want that your Dick Cheney praising candidate was morally superior, but it doesn't make it true.
If you want my vote then earn it. I don't owe it to you. That is Democracy. What I saw & still see is a bunch of leftwing authoritarians trying to silence anyone critical of their beloved AIPAC puppets, demanding votes & wishing violence on anyone who doesn't do what they demand.
Stein had no chance of winning and you knew it. You voted for nobody. You didn’t vote. Not voting is mathematically equivalent to half a vote for the candidate you least support. You voted for Trump and everything his administration is doing now.
I voted for her cause she earned my vote. I listened to what she had to say & her message carried substantially more values than "can't think of anything I'd do differently than Joe" Kamala Cheney. You supported those responsible for the deaths of 20k+ children in Palestine. The Biden administration vetoed UN resolutions calling for a ceasefire. You voted for the indiscriminate killing of civilians. You're getting exactly what you voted for. I didn't vote for the indiscriminate killing of civilians. That is the difference.
Whatever. You’re either too dense to understand how you helped Trump win or are pretending to be. In any case, you are not virtuous; you are part of the problem. Might as well go join ICE, chud.
All the flimsy justification in the world doesn't make up for the fact that you didn't try to stop this. You empowered it.
Edit: lmao is this really how you're describing known Russian asset Jill Stein?
I tried to stop it. You ignored those who told you what would happen.
Are you back to seeing Russians everywhere? Are they in the room with you right now?

You're not fooling anyone.
False dichometry. Democrats did everything to hand over power to the Republicans. It's a good cop bad cop, one party situation.
People have to organise on their own and make sure that good people are in power.
Conveniently, you didn't answer the question
I have. I called them the good cops. They would never dare to bend the law like the Republicans do. But that doesn't matter, because it's only a role they play. They leave the room when it's time for the dark stuff. A really good person would never allow the bad cop to bend the law.
