Welcome to the News community!
Rules:
1. Be civil
Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.
2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.
Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.
5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

I've been saying this for years. We need a Jesus or MLK like character to come in and lead. The majority of people on both the right and left agree on pretty much everything. It's the talking heads that divide us. I've worked in blue collar and white collar environments and I've gotten along with everyone, even though some blue collar people have very backwards beliefs. They aren't actually bad people, they're just extremely gullible.
There are millions of people ready to act on both sides they just need someone to inspire them. We need someone who can unite both sides against the true enemy. Until we have someone who can speak on all levels and inspire both the left and the right we are fucked.
Another problem is that people that are naturally talented or charismatic or driven are called tryhards. We berate talented people and we bring them down to our level. I've seen it happen so many times. There's a reason we don't see inspirational and awe-inspiring people as often as we used to. Unless the person is born in an upper class family and grew up very privileged, there's very little chance we'll find someone charismatic and talented enough to lead.
There are millions of his base that are victims of bad associations. People who would be more decent, if it weren’t for the natural pressure to conform to social groups for belonging. Most of these people don’t go to church to find the “truth” of the universe, but rather to socialize. They want human connection like everyone. In many rural areas, there are no secrets, so others know if you’re not “clicking” with them. Now take this tight-knit group who shares many identity traits, and mix in propaganda that plays the field well. Now you have a captive group. Anyone within the group will be ostracized if they’re not in lockstep. We must understand the gravity of it. They lose their complete social world, and are left alone in the boonies. I’m not sure how the situation can be helped, other than stopping the flow of lies showered onto them. How, at this point? I don’t know.
Bernie Sanders was a figure to unite us at a pivotal point in our history. There are many rural reds who supported Bernie. We missed that opportunity. Too many “white moderate” types were too dense/selfish to recognize the moment. Instead, we went for the status quo, who eventually revealed herself as a genocide denier type. Next chance to go for change, we install the status quo again, and he was incompetent in dealing with reality. He couldn’t make out the writing on wall.
I haven’t observed, or maybe recognized, what you mean by us pulling down rising leaders; who and how?
I don't think they were white moderates. Just selifish people who supported the status quo because their "sponsors" have asked them to do so if they wanted to stay in their seats. So just people trying to cling to their power and influence.
That is what I mean. The “white moderates” that MLK wrote about. Folks who agree with a movement’s goals, but ultimately fail it out of their own selfish reasons for keeping the status quo.
I believe they would have no qualms about joining the republican party and agreeing with their goals if that was the only way to keep their seats. They might feel a tad closer to the democratic party but more in the sense of "I prefer wine over beer".
