Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Reddit passes out warnings and bans at the slightest hint of me “approving of violence,” even when I upvote something as small as saying “hey maybe arrest the men who execute innocent people,” so uhhhh, I’ll just say that here.

We should imprison all ICE agents. And if they were to go missing and/or die, I would not lose a wink of sleep.

[–] rockettaco37@feddit.nu 35 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I just got unsuspended after 7 days for roughly the same thing. Fuck that site.

[–] doug@lemmy.today 37 points 2 months ago (3 children)

My account of over 18 years was permabanned after 2 AI-given strikes for upvoting Luigi pictures, and a third one for saying “if he could just not wake up this time, that’d be great” on a pic of Trump snoozing.

That place has gone to the dogs.

I made reference to a movie there and was given a suspension. It was about a group of white guys hunting a homeless black man in the forest. Reddit is a cesspit of fascist apologia at best.

The Fediverse has tons of problems too, don't get me wrong, but at least it allows for free expression.

I've said some truly deranged takes here and at worst the mods just delete my comments, which is honestly fair. Meanwhile I suggest that the Saudi royal family should all fall into a river and drown and oh no I get banned from reddit, this was like 4 years ago BTW.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 2 months ago

reddits AI moderation is something new, they hadnt done before until last year, i think thats where people were catching multiple bans.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 2 months ago

AI striked multiple of my accounts, the last one got off of a technicality, they had since patched.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 2 months ago

thats lucky, unspensions are pretty rare, once you get banned, im guessing if you arnt shadowbanned.

Reddit is doing what every oligarch in history has ever done, make the dictator happy to hold onto their wealth and power.

[–] AniZaeger@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

I am vehemently anti-death penalty. That said, I have zero problem whatsoever with making violation of the public trust and willful abuse of power by elected and appointed officials into a capital offense. And, quite honestly, for crimes as egregious as this, maybe that punishment should be publicly executed.

I think it’s just the result of answering to the almighty dollar: money comes first, people a distant third.

Nah, Spez has shown sympathy to Nazis.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 2 months ago

they already banned "doxxing" the ICE pigs, and ive seen quite a few astroturfing going on since day 1.

[–] FauxLiving@lemmy.world -1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

We should imprison all ICE agents. And if they were to go missing and/or die, I would not lose a wink of sleep.

Are you on the side of the rule of law and democracy or the side of might makes right? Because, I'm not aware of any way to have people 'go missing' in prison that would not violate the constitution.

I believe the first part but think the second part is abhorrent and unAmerican.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

ICE has forfeited the rule of law that protects society. Between the memo disregarding the Constitution and their actions, they have become the realworld version of Fallout raiders.

[–] FauxLiving@lemmy.world -1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I agree, and I hope we see a lot of them in prison for this.

Their actions do not justify even more people to ignore the constitution and law in order to commit violence.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Violence is what did in the Nazis and the Confederacy.

[–] FauxLiving@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

True, and if our system fails and the elections process are messed with then I will have a different opinion about what should be done. I'm not saying that violence isn't ever necessary (most of my family are veterans or active duty, I understand), I'm saying that the people pushing violence now are agitators trying to make a bad situation worse.

Until then, I'm not ready to throw away our entire country because I'm furious at these white supremacists in ICE uniforms. Their day is coming and everyone who ordered and enabled this all the way up to the top will face the same justice.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I will agitate. It is very likely that civil war will consume my nation. If that happens, I want my people to already have the materials and mindset needed to defeat Dogey America.

[–] FauxLiving@lemmy.world -2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Then you're part of the problem.

I find it hard to believe that:

  • You really believe that there is a civil war coming;
  • Are openly calling for violence on public social media and also;
  • Live in the United States

It seems a little suicidal, if your worldview is correct, to be openly advocating for violence against an administration that has shown no qualms about using terrorism laws against detractors and who controls one of the most comprehensive intelligence systems ever created.

Kinda sounds like someone who isn't in the US and is just stirring up shit for a paycheck.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Then explain John Brown or the folks who fought the government at Blair Mountain. Or, for that matter, the 1st American Civil War. History, and the future that writes it, is messy and violent.

In any case, I have no intention of living under the Trump Regime for the rest of my life, nor to die in RFK's concentration camps. That is why I made a point to buy and learn a gun, and advocate for a civil war. I cannot protect the future of a better America by myself.

[–] FauxLiving@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I completely understand the sentiment, I disagree with the timing

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Problem is, we don't got that luxury of picking that time. Trump just does what he feels like, regardless of the circumstances. Going by what I have read in history books, fortune favors the bold - because action usually beats inaction.

That is why people should prepare for a civil war, otherwise an more active Confederacy would have built up the momentum and means to overcome the Union. We shouldn't sit on our laurels and ignore the possibility of a war.

"Don't split." The peaceful and defiant wings of protest should agree to not undermine each other.

[–] FauxLiving@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

People should always be prepared as a general rule.

I will not be part of any group that chooses to throw away democracy prior to exhausting every possible option.

If they disrupt the elections and refuse to leave office then that's the red line where they cease to be duly elected officers and become enemies of the state who would be illegally occupying the White House and in need of an escort off of the premises by any means necessary.
