You are uninformed on what is happening to legal Canadian firearm owners. Next to nobody has full auto rifles, only people with an old prohibited license. We are the most vetted and safe people in the country. We have (theoretical) daily checks by RCMP to our PAL/RPAL license to ensure we are legal to have firearms and nobody has reported us for anything. Assuming the RCMP haven't ignored reports and warnings like the last major Canadian shooting and let someone unqualified to have multiple illegal firearms 😒

Government banned many make and model of firearm last few years only because of looks, not function or use. They claimed that all the guns banned are scary assault rifles with the only use in war, yet many guns banned were plain simple .22's or old collectable bolt action surplus rifles.

Then just recently, they announced gun buyback for every PAL/RPAL where you "might get compensated" for the guns you turn in on the new list. Yet the compensation amount they have set aside for this is comically low, so if every person participated, less than 10% of people would be partially compensated. Oh and I do mean partially, you don't get the full value of your item, so you lose money in this deal.

This is done by liberal government for the general safely of the public but it doesn't make sense. If it was for public safety, there would be 100% compensation for all firearm owners no questions asked. Also they could have alongside done a gun amnesty program for criminal guns. So that illegal firearms that people may have can be brought to police with no chance of getting charged.

So what incentive does a regular license holder have to turn guns in? Essentially the government will be stealing from you because you won't be compensated, and it will be something that people will have no option but to comply or be jailed (potentially).

As for my very first post, it was trying to be lighthearted, but I genuinely think we are living in unsure times. It just seems like quite a terrible time to be going thru gun grab. We are at the height of US aggression and we share a very cozy border with them. Why is it now that this is happening? When general population is probably feeling less safe now more than ever from their southern neighbors.
