Isn't conservatism about keeping things the same? What you said sounds more like normal human groupism/corruption

Keep things the same like queer people in the closet, women in the kitchen, and people of color in poverty. Not like 1950s top marginal tax rates.

These days what it boils down to is an nostalgia for suffering of a bygone era.

It's a pretense that is used when it is convenient.

Of course, progress is good, keeping things the same is bad as things were bad in the past. Just two bad things can be two different bad things, and I think this is a case were it is.

bear in mind that the US political parties based swapped names within living memory, and anyone can say they're anything and do anything. I can say I'm not racist and be racist, I can say I'm a bad person while being a Saint
