Trump is going to cause a civil war and I am all for it. Never should have lifted our foot off the South's neck.
These ICE terrorists have apparently never seen a Ukrainian drone video.
The ways to stop this go from easy to hard. Funny that.
The easiest is voting. It has the least risk, is the easiest to do. Done properly and regularly, it’s also the most effective, not just preventing shit like this happening but putting people you actually want in power. This is easier than the protest fix.
Bear in mind Americans are too lazy to do this in any numbers. They think even this is too difficult.
The next is peaceful protest, running from organised marches which are less effective but galvanise the public, to complete shutdown of trading, going to work, whatever can be done. This takes more effort than voting and in the case of real shutdown or mass protests, requires hardship. In this case this would be done to force those in power who might, to use the institutional rules that stand to remove this president and administration.
This is where the US is now and what it should do to fix this. This requires hardship, like losing jobs they don’t want, healthcare insurance which covers fuckall anyway and the threat of eviction.
This is still better than being shot in the face, which leads us to the next and last step of doing something about it; civil war. Despite some claiming the US is there, it isn’t quite yet. People are being murdered but there are not yet states fighting each other.
You might think you want this but you don’t, really.
When are US citizens going to take the easier paths to fix these things? Right now it’s peaceful shutdown. Fuckin oath they’ll lose jobs, healthcare and homes but perhaps if they thought about these things every time elections came up and how important voting is, the US wouldn’t be here.
Disengage. Don’t go to work, don’t buy any shit you don’t need, don’t pay your bills, don’t pay tax. Don’t bitch about the hardships of this either; you didn’t take the easy way out so now it’s the hard.
We’re IN a civil war. It’s already started.
Everyone arguing for "war" or direct violent confrontation either hasn't fully thought it through, is actively trying to weaken the country, or is speaking with emotion, not brains.
Do really you think when fighting breaks out, people are just gonna rally to your cause like patriotic Americans? Or that Republicans will have a change of heart at the thought of killing their fellow Americans? Maybe the military will spring a coup d'etat because Trump goes too far? Delusion. All delusion.
Any group that's still active and outside by morning will be a target for a regime itching for an excuse to pull the trigger, with no safeguards to stop them. It doesn't even need to be all that violent: they just need a sliver of a chance to propagandize it as violent. No "autonomous zone" fantasy land bullshit this time. The American Tank Man will be steamrolled right over by an MRAP that doesn't even slow down.
People reference the American Revolution a lot lately. But read a book: it was preceded by years of planning, organizing, stockpiling, and training. Farmer John Puritan didn't just wake up one morning in 1755 to grab a musket and kick a red coat in the nuts.

Few if any on the left are arguing for way, they are preparing and bracing for it and in this case, hyping themselves up against what will be a strong or more organized opposition.
I agree organization and planning is needed.
But war is coming whether we like it or not.
I’m not saying roll over and accept fascism, and if it does come to civil war so be it, but civil war is not anything I am rushing to.
I get wanting to fight back. I’m mad as hell. I want nothing more than most politicians (on both sides) and billionaires to be stripped of all their wealth and power, and many of them to never see the outside of a cell. I just want to avoid being a statistic, or living with the memories of dead loved ones and bombed out neighborhoods.

This is a dangerous misunderstanding of statistics. Most murders go unsolved because the victims aren't considered important by society. The police barely bother to investigate. The facade is broken. The goal of the Trump administration is to tear down the last scraps of democracy standing in their way. He's escalating and we are so close to an all out war, but there's also a reason this entire thing has been dragged out for as long as it has. There's a reason he hasn't just sent the military and Palantir drones into cities (yet). He needs at least some corporate support to survive and corporations still need people to continue to buy their shit. This is literally why he is starting a war in Venezuela, and taking over the Venezuelan state run oil company that until now was collecting 61% of Chevron's profits.
He has tanked the economy, and he is hemorrhaging support like he slashed his own wrists in a warm bathtub. For a civil war to break out, one "side" of the country turning on the other is kind of a necessity. Right now, there is no "side" for Americans to really fight. There's just Trump and his illiterate group of SS soldiers who are losing more and more support from his base by the day. Encouraging people to help him out by officially kicking off the "civil war" for him and attacking the fucking military police, is giving him exactly what he wants, and is about as shitty and transparent as encouraging somebody to go ahead and leave their finger prints on the gun you know will be used to frame them.

The South isn't the only issue here.
What truly went wrong is the aftermath of WW2. Nazis shouldn't have been let off as easily as they were - especially the ones that escaped justice to countries like Argentina.
That easy-handedness allowed the ideology to survive just long enough for those who saw the atrocities to mostly die off, and to plan ahead and arise through "backdoor channels" on the fringes of society, let that be the Neo-Nazi skinhead or biker groups, incels, or other similar brainwashed extremities of people - generally tons of dim-witted morons misled easily by the handful of intelligent, actually morally fucked ones in charge.
I too hope the US manages another civil war and gets broken up, because the political imbalance both internally due to the fucked up, rigid political systems and externally due to the constant influence they exert over others, is not tenable. A more EU-like approach between the 50 states (plus DC plus PR) would be much more beneficial to both the states and the world.
The South was never properly reconstructed. We got rid of legal slavery, granted the right to vote, and then fucked off back to the North. That's why the South is the butt of every joke about education, poverty, and provincialism. And those factors combine to make it a breeding ground for those ideologies.
And the South is Trump's powerbase. It's where he gets all his ICE agents, his grip on the Senate, House, and EC, etc.

Certainly we should have known things were way off course when they were allowed to put up statues of traitors to this country.
The South is also the birthplace of the Civil Rights Movement and the part of the country with the highest percentage of black population.
It's easy for folks in places like Minnesota to pretend they aren't racist when they barely ever interact with people of other races to begin with.
Make no mistake: it's rural people in all states who are bigots, not southerners. The only reason states in the south are still "red" is that they tend to have slightly higher percentages of rural populations than blue states do.
Out of necessity? And that's hardly a positive achievement.
This time we don't go easy. No half measures.
There won't be a civil war. The left would have to fight back for there to be a war. This is just a fascist take-over.
The "official" left - the Dems - might not fight back, but remember that most of their support comes from the sheer desperation of actual leftists having no other viable representation.
Then they need to organize fast or there will be nothing left of democracy.
Civil wars aren't ordinary election campaigns, they mobilise different groups.
